What is Code 39?
A widely deployed alphanumeric linear barcode. Every character contains nine elements, three of which are wide, and the asterisk pattern serves as both start and stop.
How it is structured
Asterisk start, characters separated by a narrow inter-character gap, optional modulo-43 check character, and asterisk stop. Native data covers A–Z, 0–9, and seven symbols.
Where it is used
Manufacturing, automotive, defence logistics, asset labels, and legacy industrial inventory.
