ETSI EN 302 208
ETSI EN 302 208 - Radio Frequency Identification Equipment operating in the band 865 MHz to 868 MHz
Overview
The European regulatory standard for UHF RFID equipment operating in the 865.6–867.6 MHz band. Specifies maximum transmit power (2 W EIRP), channel plan, and the Listen Before Talk (LBT) protocol that European UHF readers must follow. LBT requires the reader to check if a channel is free before transmitting, unlike the frequency hopping approach used in North America.
Why it matters for RFID
Mandatory compliance for any UHF RFID reader deployed in Europe. Defines the narrower frequency band and lower power limits that make European UHF deployments different from US ones.
