Overview

The US Federal Communications Commission regulation governing unlicensed radio frequency devices, including UHF RFID readers and tags. Subpart C covers intentional radiators in the 902–928 MHz ISM band. Allows up to 4 W EIRP with frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) across at least 50 channels, each with a maximum 500 kHz bandwidth.

Why it matters for RFID

Defines the power limits, frequency band, and hopping pattern for all UHF RFID equipment in the United States. The wider 902–928 MHz band and higher 4 W EIRP give US deployments more range and throughput than European ones.
