GS1 EPCIS 2.0 - Electronic Product Code Information Services
Overview
The GS1 standard for capturing and sharing supply chain visibility events. EPCIS events record What (EPC/GTIN), When (timestamp), Where (location), and Why (business step). Version 2.0 adds JSON/JSON-LD format, a REST API, GS1 Digital Link URIs, and linked data support alongside the existing XML binding.
Why it matters for RFID
The interoperability standard for sharing RFID tag read events across supply chain partners. Pharmaceutical track-and-trace (EU FMD, US DSCSA), food safety (FSMA 204), and retail supply chain all use EPCIS.
