Overview
The foundational GS1 standard that defines the rules for GTIN assignment, barcode symbology specifications (EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, ITF-14, GS1-128, GS1 DataBar, GS1 DataMatrix), Application Identifiers (AIs), check digit calculation, company prefix allocation, and data carrier selection. All other GS1 standards reference this document.
Why it matters for RFID
The master reference for all GS1 identification and barcode standards. Defines how GTINs are structured, how barcodes encode data, and how Application Identifiers work - all of which feed into EPC RFID encoding.
