Overview

The international standard for UHF RFID air interface (860–960 MHz, Type C). This is the ISO version of the EPC Gen2 protocol - it defines how readers and tags communicate, including the inventory round, select/query commands, memory bank layout (EPC, TID, User), and access/kill operations.

Why it matters for RFID

Governs the physical and protocol layer of all UHF RFID (EPC Gen2) systems. If you are reading or writing EPC tags, this standard defines how the reader talks to the tag.
