Overview

A multi-part standard defining the software infrastructure for RFID systems. Part 3 covers the device management interface. Part 5 defines the device command set. Part 6 specifies the Low Level Reader Protocol (LLRP), the standardised binary protocol for controlling UHF RFID readers over TCP. Originally published by EPCglobal, now maintained by GS1 and ISO.

Why it matters for RFID

LLRP (Part 6) is the vendor-neutral protocol used to control UHF RFID readers from Impinj, Zebra, ThingMagic, and others. Enables reader-agnostic RFID middleware.
