Overview

A family of specifications that define how NFC (Near Field Communication) devices interoperate. Includes NDEF (NFC Data Exchange Format) for storing URLs, text, and other records on tags; Tag Type definitions (Type 1–5) mapping to underlying ISO standards; and peer-to-peer and card emulation modes.

Why it matters for RFID

Defines the data format (NDEF) that makes NFC tags work with phones. When you tap your phone to an NFC tag and a URL opens, that is NDEF.
