Overview

RAIN RFID is the industry alliance and brand name for UHF RFID technology based on the GS1 EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-63 standard. The RAIN acronym stands for RAdio frequency IdentificatioN. The alliance promotes interoperability, certifies products, and provides a unified brand for UHF RFID - analogous to what Wi-Fi Alliance does for IEEE 802.11.

Why it matters for RFID

When a product is described as "RAIN RFID", it means UHF RFID conforming to EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-63. The RAIN certification programme ensures reader and tag interoperability.
